ROLE
Official Photographer

THERE IS NO SECOND

Being an event official photographer of the America’s Cup is an extraordinary privilege — and a demanding responsibility. This event, with its long history, global reach, and passionate following, is a universe in itself, where technology, teamwork, and human ambition meet on and off the water.

Working within it means much more than photographing boats in competition. It means being part of a living organism that never stops moving. My work allows me to explore and document every corner of this immense operation: from the broadcast and umpire rooms.

to emergency units, marshals, race committee, press center, and every stage and event behind the scenes.

What happened yesterday belongs to the archive; today is what truly matters.

It’s a role that requires not only technical precision as a nautical photographer, but also sensitivity to storytelling, portraiture, sponsorship, and marketing — and above all, a deep sense of collaboration.

Every image must be the result of coordination with sailors, teams, media crews, and organizers, always respecting the rhythm and demands of the competition. The sea is unpredictable, the light changes every second, and what happens in front of the lens can never be repeated.

Each day feels like a new chapter: a continuous flow of preparation, anticipation, and discovery. The challenge is to translate speed, tension, and strategy into images that not only inform but also move the viewer — that reveal both the beauty and the human effort behind the spectacle. Every photograph must carry the weight of the present moment, as what happened yesterday immediately becomes part of the archive. The true value of this work lies in the “now”: in capturing the pulse of the day, the emotion of a race, the silence before the start, and the gestures that often go unnoticed but define the spirit of the America’s Cup.
