Unlock the richness of cacao
2 years adventure —90.000 km journey
CacaoCollective is a 30-minute documentary that explores cacao in all its dimensions. It is also a travel diary, written and photographed throughout the entire journey.
CacaoCollective began in December 2013, during a meeting in Barcelona with Cacao Barry, sponsor and co-producer of this documentary project. Six months later, once the objectives were defined and the script completed, we set out to film and conduct interviews on a journey spanning more than 90,000 km.
This two-year adventure took us through Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica, Cameroon, Madagascar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Belgium, Spain, and France. Along the way, we walked side by side with farmers, anthropologists, historians, biologists, chemists, engineers, agronomists, geneticists, tasters, and chefs, giving voice to cacao — a fruit intertwined with human history for over 3,500 years.
Time has flown by, and the project is now complete. What you will find here is the most intimate side of CacaoCollective: our experiences, anecdotes, encounters, favorite images, and emotions.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude and affection to all those who generously shared their knowledge, stories, and time, helping turn CacaoCollective into a reality.
